About I for Design Studio:
We're a boutique brand and web design studio based on the Sunshine Coast, QLD Australia, led by Indiah (Creative Director). We work with premium service-based businesses. Think interior designers, lawyers, allied health professionals, and creative studios who care deeply about how their brand shows up in the world.
The design work is refined, intentional, and personality-led. The brand strategy and copy behind it needs to match that standard exactly.
The opportunity:
This is a gig-based EOI, not an ongoing role *yet*. We're looking to build a relationship with a brand strategist and copywriter (if such a unicorn exists) who we can bring in on a per-project basis as the workload requires. If the fit is right, there's real potential for this to grow into something more regular over time.
What you'll work on:
1. Brand strategy documents: positioning, audience research, competitor analysis, brand personality and messaging frameworks
2. Tone of voice development: defining how a brand sounds and giving it a voice that actually feels human
3. Website copy: homepage through to internal pages, written to convert without sounding like everyone else
4. Brand messaging: taglines, brand story, key messages, value propositions
5. Brand guidelines that are genuinely usable: written in plain language so clients can maintain their own voice confidently after handover
6. Supporting with EDM copy, social captions, or other brand-adjacent writing when needed

You're a fit if you:
- Have at least 3 years experience in brand strategy, copywriting, or both, ideally in a creative service or agency environment
- Understand the difference between a brand voice and a writing style, and know how to build both from scratch
- Write in clear, confident, human English that doesn't sound like it came from a template (or worse, AI)
- Can translate research, strategy, and client conversations into copy that actually moves people
- Understand that strategy and copy only work if the client can actually USE them. You write guidelines that are clear, practical, and easy to implement, not just impressive documents that sit in a folder and never get opened again
- Don't just complete the brief, you improve it. You bring ideas, spot gaps, and flag opportunities we haven't thought of yet. If you can see a better way to position a client or a piece of copy that would land harder, you say so
- Are comfortable working autonomously from a brief and delivering polished work without hand-holding
- Communicate proactively, ask smart questions upfront, and flag anything unclear before it becomes a problem
- Are available for calls and feedback during AEST business hours when needed
Bonus points for:
- Experience working with premium service-based businesses like lawyers, health professionals, interior designers, creative studios
- Understanding of brand identity and how copy and visual design work together
- Ability to do both strategy AND copy (potentially rare, but very welcome)
