Interior Designer (Short-Term Rentals & Finish Selections)

Location: Remote (U.S. preferred, open to international applicants)
Position: Full-Time or Part-Time

We're looking for an organized, creative Interior Designer who can bring our vision to life while following our established design process and standards.

Position Overview

As an Interior Designer at ALNU Design Co., you will be responsible for taking projects from concept through final design documentation.

You'll develop the overall design direction, create furniture layouts, source furnishings and finishes, prepare client presentations, and produce detailed installation guides that allow our installation team to execute the design seamlessly.

This is not a freelance "design however you want" role. We are looking for someone who can execute within the ALNU Design Co. brand while bringing creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving to every project.

Responsibilities
Design Concept Development
Create high-quality moodboards that establish the overall design direction for client approval
Incorporate ALNU's design philosophy and brand standards into every project
Integrate approved property branding elements throughout the design
Design spaces that are visually memorable while remaining functional and durable
Space Planning
Order Matterport scans using the company account
Create furniture layouts using Matterport floor plans
Ensure proper traffic flow, functionality, and guest experience throughout the home
Furniture & Decor Selection
Source furniture, lighting, rugs, artwork, décor, bedding, accessories, and outdoor furnishings
Create organized shopping lists with shoppable links for every room
Select products that align with project budgets
Maintain awareness of lead times, availability, and substitutions when needed
Finish Selections

For applicable projects, create complete finish packages including:

Flooring
Paint
Cabinet finishes
Countertops
Backsplash
Plumbing fixtures
Lighting
Hardware
Mirrors
Tile selections
Exterior finishes (when applicable)
Design Documentation

Produce detailed project documentation including:

Interior installation guides for every room
Exterior installation guides
Furniture placement plans
Styling instructions
Notes for contractors and installers
Procurement documentation
Client Revisions
Complete client revisions in a timely manner
Maintain organization of all revisions
Present updated materials that reflect client feedback while maintaining good design principles
Team Collaboration
Attend regular design progress meetings with the Principal Designer
Collaborate with Project Managers and the ALNU team
Meet project deadlines
Communicate roadblocks early
Follow all internal SOPs and design workflows
Software Requirements

Experience with the following (or willingness to learn):

Spoak
Canva
Matterport
Google Workspace
Google Drive

Qualifications
Required
Degree in Interior Design or related field (preferred but not required with strong portfolio)
Experience designing residential interiors
Strong understanding of color, scale, proportion, and furniture layout
Excellent sourcing skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to work independently while following company systems
Strong attention to detail
Preferred
Experience designing Short-Term Rentals (Airbnb, VRBO, vacation rentals)
Experience selecting finishes for new construction or renovations
Experience with hospitality design
Understanding of guest experience design
Knowledge of furniture procurement
