YouTube Podcast Editor | 1 Podcast + 3 Shorts Weekly | Long-Term
Curated from source
If you ignore my instructions on how to apply, I will not consider you :)
Each week, I need:
- One lightly edited 60–90 minute interview podcast
- Three vertical shorts selected from that podcast
I am not looking for someone to MrBeast-ify the videos. I do not want constant zooms, sound effects, ---------- s, or visual clutter.
I want someone who can make a long conversation feel clean and easy to watch.
I make videos about speed cubing - solving Rubik's cubes competitively. I interview many of the fastest and most influential speed cubers, and am well respected within this niche community!
I will pay $75 USD per podcast and 3 accompanying shorts. I'm estimating this job will be 6-8 hrs per week in total - I do not want super complex edits or motion graphics. Once we establish that you understand speed cubing and are making shorts that get views, I'm willing to raise it to $90 USD per pod + shorts.
Foror Each Podcast, you would:
- Download the raw footage from Riverside
- Work with the individual speaker camera and audio tracks
- Create a short cold open using strong ---------- nts from later in the conversation
- Cut dead space, awkward starts and stops, repeated thoughts, technical issues, and sections that clearly do not need to be there
- Switch naturally between individual speakers and split-screen layouts
- Add supplied calls to action at appropriate points
- Do basic audio cleanup and leveling
- Export and deliver the finished episode
These are conversational interviews. I do not want them cut so aggressively that they stop feeling natural.
For Each Short, you would identify three strong ---------- nts from the full conversation and turn them into vertical clips.
I do not want three AI-generated clips exported without much thought. I can do that myself.
The goal is to build the best clip from the whole conversation. If the context, setup, and payoff happen at different points, pull those ---------- nts together and reorder them so the clip makes sense on its own.
The clips should:
- Make sense without requiring the viewer to have seen the podcast
- Include enough context to understand why the ---------- nt matters
- Be sharp and tightened where necessary
- Have accurate, readable captions
- Feel like something a person would watch and think, “That was a good clip. I should watch the full podcast.”
From the time you get footage, I expect a first draft of the podcast + clips back within 5 days, and any revisions back within 3 days. I'm guessing we will need 1 set of revisions per episode.
I care about skill, not experience.
You do not need to know anything about speed cubing before applying, but you should be willing to learn enough about the niche as we work together to understand which ---------- nts matter.
I will do paid test projects with anyone I'm interested in.
1. I'll give you 15 minutes of raw podcast footage to edit. Edit it and give me 1 clip. (Paid)
2. If you pass that, I'll let you edit a full podcast + make 3 clips. (Paid)
If that goes well and you are responsive to feedback, we'll move into a long-term relationship.
Job Requirements
- Clear written English
- Replies within 24 hours on normal working days
- Ability to meet an agreed weekly deadline
- Reliable internet access for downloading and uploading large video files
- Willingness to complete one normal revision round when needed
HOW TO APPLY
Please submit 2–3 podcast or interview episodes you personally helped edit.
For each podcast, include:
- A link to the full podcast episode
- A link to at least one vertical clip created from that same episode
- A brief explanation of exactly what you handled on the project
I want to evaluate both your long-form editing and your ability to identify and build clips from the full conversation. Please do not submit unrelated podcast examples and shorts from different projects.
Your examples should be formatted like this:
Podcast 1
Full episode:
Clip from this episode:
What I handled:
Podcast 2
Full episode:
Clip from this episode:
What I handled:
Please only submit work you personally edited or substantially contributed to. If you only handled part of the podcast or clip, clearly explain your role.
General demo reels, unrelated short-form edits, gaming montages, and shorts that cannot be connected to a podcast you edited will not be considered.
I care more about the quality of your work than your years of experience.
You do not need to know anything about speedcubing before applying, but you should be willing to learn enough about the niche to understand which ---------- nts matter.
