About the Role

We are a Massachusetts based home care company seeking a licensed Philippine attorney to assist with a matter involving a former remote worker located in Baguio City.

Our preliminary review identified discrepancies between the hours invoiced and the work that appears to have been performed. We have retained time tracking reports, screenshots, application activity records, messages, invoices, payment records and other supporting evidence.

Responsibilities

The selected attorney will assist with:

  • Reviewing the available evidence and employment records
  • Comparing invoiced hours with activity logs, screenshots and completed work
  • Helping calculate the legally supportable amount of overpayment
  • Advising on possible civil claims and recovery options under Philippine law
  • Preparing and sending a formal demand letter
  • Assisting with repayment or settlement negotiations
  • Advising whether a civil collection case should be filed
  • Advising whether the evidence supports a complaint with the NBI, PNP, prosecutor’s office or another appropriate authority
  • Organizing and preserving electronic evidence
  • Assisting with representation or filings in the Philippines if further action becomes necessary

Qualifications

  • Licensed Philippine attorney in good standing
  • Experience with civil recovery, collections, fraud, employment disputes or electronic evidence
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Comfortable working with an overseas client through Zoom and email
  • Able to provide clear written legal guidance
  • Experience handling matters in Baguio City is preferred

Compensation

  • ?300 to ?450 per hour, depending on qualifications and relevant experience
  • Starting rate will generally be ?300 per hour
  • Rates above ?300 must be justified by relevant experience
  • No paid consultation fee
  • No upfront consultation charge
  • All hours must be approved before work begins
  • Time must be tracked and supported by completed work
  • Weekly hours will be limited unless additional hours are approved
  • This is not a monthly retainer position
