About the Role

nternet Research Assistant (Police Incidents & Public Records)

We are looking for a detail-oriented online researcher to help identify interesting police incidents across the United States.

This is a research position. You will not be editing videos or writing scripts.

Your job is to find interesting public incidents and organize the information into a spreadsheet so our team can request the official records.

Responsibilities

Search U.S. local news websites
Search police department and sheriff office websites
Find interesting incidents involving:
DUI
Shoplifting
Employee theft
Fraud
Road rage
Public disturbances
Retail theft
Traffic stops
Other unusual police incidents
Identify the correct police agency
Locate the agency's public records request page

Collect:

Incident date
Suspect name (if public)
News article
Agency
County
Public records link
Organize all information in Google Sheets
Assist with preparing public records requests using our templates

Requirements--

Excellent internet research skills
Strong attention to detail
Good written English
Comfortable using Google Sheets
Able to follow detailed instructions
Reliable internet connection

What Success Looks Like

A successful researcher should be able to identify multiple high-quality incidents each week and organize all relevant information accurately.

Quality is much more important than quantity.
