Mandarin Item Sourcer (China-Based)

Overview
We are looking for a China-based Item Sourcer who currently resides in China and is fluent in both Mandarin and English. This individual will serve as the company's local sourcing specialist, working directly with Chinese manufacturers, suppliers, and factories to identify products, negotiate pricing, and coordinate sourcing activities.
The ideal candidate has strong supplier relationships, understands Chinese manufacturing and sourcing processes, and can effectively bridge communication between suppliers and Quokka's international team.

Key Responsibilities

• Source products from manufacturers throughout China.
• Communicate directly with factories and suppliers in Mandarin.
• Research and identify reliable manufacturers.
• Negotiate pricing, MOQs, production timelines, and shipping terms.
• Verify supplier legitimacy and manufacturing capabilities.
• Conduct market research and supplier comparisons.
• Coordinate communications between suppliers and the Quokka team.
• Assist with production updates and quality control coordination.
• Build and maintain long-term supplier relationships.
• Provide regular sourcing updates and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Must currently reside in China.
• Native or fluent Mandarin speaker.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Proven experience sourcing directly from Chinese manufacturers.
• Experience using Alibaba, 1688, Made-in-China, or similar sourcing platforms.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Excellent research and organizational abilities.
• Detail-oriented and highly reliable.
• Able to work independently in a remote environment.
• Reliable internet connection and availability during overlapping business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Procurement or purchasing experience.
• Experience supporting U.S. or international companies.
• Knowledge of international shipping and export processes.
• Existing network of Chinese manufacturers and suppliers.
