Senior Intelligence Control Plane Engineer
Curated from source
We're hiring a Senior Intelligence Control Plane Engineer to build the governance layer that sits between our platform and the external AI systems it uses. This isn't building another AI model - it's building the control plane that determines which model or tool gets used, whether access is permitted, what approvals are required, and what evidence and audit trail gets produced. It's the part of the product enterprise customers actually interact with directly.
This role governs already-protected information once it leaves our privacy boundary (owned by a different specialist role) - your job is determining what happens to it next, not protecting it in the first place.
What you'll own: intelligent routing between different AI models and providers (cost, fallback, and selection logic), the governance and policy engine that enforces approval workflows and escalation rules, integration and permissions for external tools connecting to our system, and the evidence and audit trail that makes every governance decision traceable and reviewable after the fact.
What you won't own: the privacy/data-protection layer itself, the workspace UI, or overall system architecture - your authority is over how routing, governance, and audit are implemented, not the underlying architecture or what happens before information reaches you.
We're looking for 8+ years of senior software engineering experience, direct experience building governance, workflow, or approval systems (not just consuming other people's), experience integrating complex third-party APIs, and strong engineering judgment under uncertainty - you should be comfortable making decisions inside a controlled, architecture-first process rather than needing full autonomy.
This is a fully remote, primarily asynchronous role. We keep live meetings to a minimum - typically just one or two scheduled check-ins per week with our CTO, timed to land at a reasonable hour for both sides.
We're building a long-term core team, not filling a short-term gig - compensation is negotiated individually based on your experience and what you bring to the role, and we intend to grow both pay and benefits as the team and company mature.
Our process: application review, then a short screening call, then a practical technical exercise relevant to the role, then a technical discussion with our CTO, then a final conversational interview, then offer. We aim to move quickly and keep you updated at each stage.
