About the Role

Senior WordPress Developer | Website Performance, SEO, AI & Conversion Optimization

We're looking for an experienced WordPress developer to join our team on a project-by-project basis. We have a consistent pipeline of websites to build and improve, and we're looking for someone who is passionate about creating websites that are fast, technically sound, SEO-friendly, AI-ready, and built to convert visitors into customers.

This role will begin on a per-project basis, but our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the right person. We want someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates proactively, and genuinely cares about delivering exceptional results.

About Us

We're a digital marketing agency focused on helping businesses grow through high-performing websites and strategic marketing. We don't build websites just to look good—we build digital assets that generate leads, rank well in search engines, perform exceptionally, and support long-term business growth.

Every website we launch should have a clear purpose, measurable goals, and a polished user experience.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for developing and optimizing WordPress websites from the ground up, ensuring every project is technically excellent, visually polished, and built to perform.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build custom WordPress websites from designs, wireframes, or brand guidelines.
  • Develop responsive, mobile-first websites that function flawlessly across all modern browsers and devices.
  • Configure themes, plugins, custom post types, forms, and third-party integrations.
  • Optimize websites for speed, Core Web Vitals, and overall performance.
  • Implement technical SEO best practices and proper site architecture.
  • Structure websites for AI search visibility (Generative Engine Optimization/GEO) and modern search experiences.
  • Create clean, scalable, maintainable code following WordPress best practices.
  • Configure analytics, tracking, pixels, conversion events, redirects, and structured data.
  • Perform complete quality assurance testing before launch.
  • Troubleshoot issues quickly and recommend improvements proactively.

What We're Looking For

We are not looking for someone who simply installs themes or builds pages.

We're looking for someone who understands how to build websites that generate business results.

Every decision—from code quality and page speed to layout and user flow—should improve performance, visibility, user experience, and lead generation.

You should think like a strategist, not just a developer.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress architecture.
  • Experience with Elementor, Bricks Builder, Gutenberg, ACF, or custom theme development.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development.
  • Experience with WooCommerce and custom functionality is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Git, staging environments, deployment workflows, and version control.

Website Performance & Technical Optimization

Performance is a top priority.

You should have experience optimizing:

  • Google Core Web Vitals
  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
  • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)
  • Interaction to Next Paint (INP)
  • PageSpeed Insights
  • Image optimization
  • Lazy loading
  • Caching strategies
  • CDN configuration
  • Cloudflare
  • Database optimization
  • JavaScript and CSS optimization
  • Font optimization

Our expectation is that every website loads quickly and delivers an excellent user experience.

SEO & AI Optimization

You should have strong knowledge of technical SEO, including:

  • Site architecture
  • Schema markup
  • Structured data
  • XML sitemaps
  • Canonical tags
  • Internal linking
  • Metadata optimization
  • Redirect management
  • Crawl optimization
  • Index management

You should also understand modern AI search optimization (Generative Engine Optimization/GEO), including:

  • Semantic HTML
  • Entity-based SEO
  • Content hierarchy
  • Structured information architecture
  • Building websites that are easy for AI systems to understand, summarize, and reference
  • Experience optimizing for AI-powered search experiences such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity

Conversion Optimization

Every website should be designed with lead generation in mind.

We're looking for someone who understands:

  • User psychology
  • Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
  • Landing page best practices
  • User journey optimization
  • Clear calls-to-action
  • Trust signals
  • Testimonials
  • Objection handling
  • Contact form optimization
  • Appointment booking flows
  • Lead generation strategy
  • Reducing friction throughout the customer journey

You should understand that websites exist to generate measurable business results—not simply look attractive.

Marketing & Analytics Integrations

Experience with the following is highly preferred:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
  • Google Tag Manager
  • Google Search Console
  • Meta Pixel
  • Conversion tracking
  • CRM integrations
  • HubSpot
  • GoHighLevel
  • Zapier
  • Calendly
  • Stripe
  • API integrations
  • Webhooks

Security & Maintenance

You should understand:

  • WordPress security best practices
  • User permissions
  • Plugin management
  • Malware prevention
  • Backup strategies
  • SSL configuration
  • Website monitoring
  • Ongoing maintenance

Quality Assurance

Every website should be thoroughly tested before launch.

This includes:

  • Mobile responsiveness
  • Cross-browser compatibility
  • Form submissions
  • Speed testing
  • SEO validation
  • Schema validation
  • Analytics verification
  • Pixel testing
  • Broken link checks
  • Redirect testing
  • Accessibility best practices (WCAG)
  • Security review

We don't launch websites until they're ready.

Communication

We're looking for someone who communicates clearly and proactively.

If you encounter an issue, we'd rather know immediately than discover it later.

You should be comfortable explaining not only what you changed, but why it improves the website.

What Success Looks Like

You're the type of developer who naturally asks:

  • How can this page convert better?
  • Why would someone trust this business?
  • What's slowing this website down?
  • How can we improve the user experience?
  • Is this optimized for search engines and AI?
  • Can this website generate more leads?

If you naturally think this way, you'll fit well with our team.

Project Structure

We'll begin with paid project-based work to evaluate communication, quality, and overall fit.

If it's a great match, we have an ongoing pipeline of websites and are looking for a long-term development partner.

To Apply

Please include:

  • Links to 3–5 WordPress websites you've personally built.
  • A brief explanation of your role in each project.
  • Examples of websites you've significantly improved for speed or SEO.
  • Any experience with AI search optimization or GEO.
  • Your preferred page builder and why.
  • Your typical process from project kickoff to launch.
  • Your preferred pricing (hourly or fixed price).
  • The word "Performance" at the beginning of your proposal so we know you've read this posting in full.

We're looking for someone who treats every website as if it were their own business—someone who is committed to building fast, secure, scalable, search-friendly websites that generate measurable results for our clients.
