About the Role

We are seeking a creative and highly organized Social Media Manager to support a published fantasy and science fiction author who also founded a popup bookstore and founded a no-AI micropress founder. The goal of the press is to transition a full service indie traditional press that uplifts talented and diverse human writing that deserves a wider audience. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about literature, enjoys engaging with online communities, and has experience growing social media platforms. We’d especially love to work with an author, editor, or book reviewer.
As a Social Media Manager, you will manage posts and reels, engage with readers, coordinate collaborations, and support various marketing and administrative initiatives. You will play a key role in building authentic connections with fantasy and sci-fi audiences across digital platforms.
This is a part-time remote position offering flexible working hours, with a required overlap during onboarding and ramp-up periods.

Key Responsibilities

Design graphics, reels, shorts, and other visual assets using Canva and CapCut.
Assist with content planning and campaign execution.
Support the creation of promotional content for book launches, announcements, and reader engagement initiatives.
Manage content calendar in Buffer that aligns with major projects.
Develop posts to build reader and community and align with press values ( queer affirming, gender equality, no AI).
Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and community interactions in a timely manner.
Maintain a consistent brand voice that aligns with the author's audience and personal brand, and follows content guidelines.

Scalable Growth
Track and record key metrics so we can lean into content that works, and refine.
Identify and engage with relevant readers, influencers, reviewers, and content creators.
Assist with outreach and communication to bookstores, libraries, and online sales partnership.
Stay up to date on industry trends in fantasy and sci-fi communities.
Mention your favorite fantasy or sci fi book in your application to prove you notice small details.
Administrative Support
Maintain records and reports using Google Sheets and ticket managing apps
Complete bookstore submission forms and book distribution applications.
Assist with various administrative and operational tasks related to publishing.

Required Qualifications
Strong experience in Social Media tasks for at least 2 yrs, with a solid presence.
Strong passion for speculative literature.
Familiarity with BookTok, Bookstagram, and BookTube communities.
Understanding of audience engagement strategies and social media best practices.
Excellent written English communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Google Sheets.
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a remote environment.

Technical Requirements
Reliable computer or laptop. Minimum 16GB RAM.
Stable internet connection with at least 100 Mbps speed.
Dedicated second monitor for productivity.
Quiet and professional remote work environment.
