ABOUT BIGGER THAN CULTURE
Bigger Than Culture is a London-based debate media brand. We run Hearts & Minds — a live, ticketed debate series — and produce short-form debate content built for social. Our defining principle is strict neutrality: we never take a side on a motion. We frame both sides fairly, put the argument in front of the audience, and let them d ---------- .
We're building a media company, not just an events brand. Social content, live events, and community are three connected pillars — and social is the engine that drives the other two.
"Agree or disagree?" — every piece of content we publish is an invitation to the audience to make up their own mind.
THE ROLE
You will own Bigger Than Culture's entire social operation across five platforms: Instagram Reels (our lead platform), TikTok, X, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube long-form. That means running the daily publishing calendar, protecting the brand's editorial standards, managing our community, directing our virtual assistant, and reporting on what's working — with the autonomy to make calls and the judgement to flag the ones that need a founder's eye.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands debate and commentary culture, has genuinely sharp editorial instincts, and can hold a neutral line on contested topics without making the content boring.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Content & Publishing
- Run the publishing calendar: three posts daily on Instagram, with native Hearts & Minds content going out twice weekly (Wednesday and Sunday, 7pm UK).
- Mirror Instagram content to X within one hour of posting — native uploads only, never watermarked shares. Manage native distribution to TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
- Oversee YouTube long-form: 10-minute debate segments cut from Hearts & Minds events.
- Write captions to house rules: forward-looking framing, no promotion of past events, maximum five hashtags always including #BiggerThanCulture.
- Source and clip external debate content, crediting original creators in the caption.
Editorial Standards & Brand Protection
- Hold the neutrality line in every caption, comment, and reply — the brand never takes a side on a motion, ever.
- Ensure every motion statement is grounded in what the speaker actually argued — verified against captions or audio, never inferred or assumed.
- Keep visual output on-brand: the dark, premium, editorial aesthetic and the BTC video template are non-negotiable.
Community & Moderation
- Own comment and DM strategy across platforms, driving debate in the comments without steering it.
- Repost audience reactions and event content to Stories; engage with the wider debate content ecosystem from the brand account.
- Set and enforce moderation thresholds; know when to delete, when to let an argument run, and when to escalate.
Team & Process
- Manage and brief our virtual assistant: posting schedules, response protocols, and the AI prompt library for comments and DMs.
- Own the scheduling tools and content folder system so nothing goes out late and nothing goes out wrong.
Live Events
- Plan and direct content capture at Hearts & Minds events — knowing before doors open which ---------- nts you need and how they'll be cut.
- Drive ticket sales for upcoming events through the content calendar.
Performance
- Deliver a weekly performance report against agreed KPIs: growth, reach, engagement, and ticket conversion.
- Scout trends in debate, commentary, and culture content — and turn them into formats before they peak.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Essential
- Proven track record growing a brand or creator account on Instagram Reels and TikTok.
- Sharp editorial judgement on contested, culturally sensitive topics — and the discipline to stay neutral on them.

- Experience managing a content calendar and briefing others (VA, editors, or freelancers).
- Fluent in analytics across Meta, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Available for evening event coverage in London.
Nice to Have
- Video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere, or similar) and an eye for hook-first clip structure.
- Background in debate, journalism, politics, or commentary media.
- Experience with community moderation at scale.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows for community management.
- Live events or ticketing experience (Eventbrite, Posh).
