About the Role

WHO I AM: I'm a certified coach, and I've recently started building my personal brand on Instagram (and TikTok) from scratch. I'm looking for someone to help me copyedit my video (reels) scripts in natural US English. I work in a very specific psychology niche - people-pleasing, boundaries, and relationship coaching.

GOAL: I'm looking for a copyeditor, partly also a copywriter. I write all of my scripts myself. First, I use AI to fix the obvious grammar mistakes, and then I need a human copyeditor to:

1. Make the script sound natural in spoken US English. 2. Make sure the script performs well on Instagram and TikTok (mainly Instagram).

For me, "performing well" means:

  • Making sure the script doesn't miss the main point and provides enough value for the viewer. If something is unclear, vague, or missing, I want you to point it out.
  • But also making sure the script isn't too wordy or too abstract, and doesn't contain parts where viewers are likely to lose attention.

SCRIPTS: My scripts are short.

  • Most are under 200 words (around 160 words on average).
  • If a script exceeds 350 words, I'll count it as two scripts.
  • Every script follows the same structure - Hook, Juice (main content), Learning and Closing/CTA
  • To help you understand my audience, I can also provide a detailed ICP (Ideal Customer Profile).

WHAT I EXPECT When reviewing my scripts, these are the most important things to me: 1. General The more concise, the better. If something can be said in fewer words, that's usually the better option. If an extra sentence or example doesn't add much value, I'd rather remove it.

2. Hooks This is probably the hardest part because every niche is different. Some hooks are overused and no longer work. Others simply don't fit my niche. So, I need very honest feedback on my hooks.

3. Juice This is the section where I need the most help. Sometimes I explain too much, and other times I leave out important information. For example, I might describe the problem but fail to explain the consequences or why the viewer should care. It's always a balance between keeping the script short and making sure the value and the main point are clear.

4. Learning / Closing I usually end with a practical takeaway or a new perspective. I want to make sure the ending actually makes sense. For example, if the takeaway isn't clear or doesn't connect well to the problem discussed earlier, I'd like you to point that out.

YOUR BACKGROUND: I'm only looking for experienced copyeditors/copywriters who have a portfolio and examples of previous work. If you're new to writing and editing social media scripts, then this isn't the right fit. I can usually tell from the first script reviews.

PLEASE DON'T apply if you don't have a portfolio or examples to share for short-form video scripts IG/TT.

HOW TO APPLY: If you've read everything until the end and interested, please start your application by: 1. Sharing your portfolio or examples of your work. 2. Telling me how long you've been working as a copyeditor/copywriter.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you!
